Job duties:
(a) To research on the film titles of the proposed donations to check if they would be in the scope of Hong Kong films before onsite film acquisitions:
(b) To provide advice and support to the acquisitions, temporary storage and record management of born-digital films, including conducting test screenings and making backup copies:
(c) To provide onsite photo taking and video shooting services, to provide editing tools and edit the videos, and compile records to document the acquisition trips or any other HKF A events when required:
(d) To assist in the preparation of the "New Acquisition Report";
(e) To liaise and co-ordinate with Conservation Unit for film checking of around 3,000 reels of newly acquired film materials and for passing around 30 films of DCP to them for permanent preservation:
(f) To update film movement record in the collection management system;
(g) To assist in stocktaking the acquired film and film-related materials, and report discrepancy, if any; and
(h) To supervise and monitor the progress of work of the project assistant.
Requirements:
(a) Bachelor's degree, preferably in Film / Television Studies, Media / Communication Studies or equivalent subjects, with two years full time working experience in identifying and handling of film-based motion picture materials and born-digital motion picture films;
(b) At least one year full time working experience in the archives. libraries or museums related fields is required;
( c) The staff must have the certificate of manual handling issued by Occupational Safety & Health Council (OSHC) or OSHC's recognized organization;
(d) Extensive knowledge of Hong Kong film history and film technology;
(e) Ability to lift at least 12kg of film materials from shelves;
(f) Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Photoshop, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere and Chinese and English data entry; and
(g) Must be able to read and write Chinese and English and fluent in Cantonese.
